How do you get 'em to sit still long enough to take the pic? Or do you have a stack of blurry almost butterfly pics hanging around somewhere? Maybe a few with just the tip of the wing as the butterfly flies out of the frame?

I am jealous.

Lots of bad & blurry pics, for sure. I love that about digital cameras. No fear of spending money developing misfires...

You probably already know this but I thought I'd throw out some broad id's on your pics. I'm too tired to pull out the huge butterfly ID book to figure out specifically what you have in your neck of the woods, but from the top down (and of course, I'm sure to screw up at least one just to thoroughly embarrass myself):
Fritillary
Blue
Vanessa (that's the genus, includes such beauties as "Painted Lady"
Swallowtail (around here I'd call it a Pipevine Swallowtail)
Sulphur (looks like our Dogface)
Fritillary again
Vanessas again

More important than getting them to sit still-how did you take the pictures with only one hand?!

chile - Wow, butterfly identification. Nice. I tried once but was a bit overwhelmed by all the similarities between different kinds.

beo - I took those before the fall. Cropping them in Photoshop wasn't a picnic one-handed though...
